  • I am tired of the heat and am looking forward with great longing to Autumn. I guess I'll work some more on the black hole today, still have too much "stuff".

  • Having pondered the questions of my blog on Tuesday, I have come to a couple of conclusions. No matter who I am with, I am pretty much the same. Alot of people I know have a "work" persona and a different persona when on their own time. It amazes me how different they are. I am the same at work or in  any other situation. I am a bit more professional at work, but I am essentially the same.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago, that I am a non-conformist. I never fit my family's idea of who or what I should be (I refer to my mama calling me her "special" child, because I was so different from other kids my age!)

This point was brought home to me yesterday as I decided to read a book my sister gave me on my 40th birthday. It is called "Dealing with Dragons" and it is actually a young adult book.

It concerns a Princess who is not typical. She does not look like a "proper" Princess, she is pretty yes, but has almost black hair and is very tall. (In this book, proper princesses have golden hair and are small and delicate!) She wants to learn magic , fencing, cooking and Latin, things no self respecting "proper" princess would want to learn. She doesn't want to marry a prince just because it is "proper" so she runs away!

She voluntarily becomes a Dragon's Princess and actually saves the day during the course of the book.(Most princesses are caught by dragons and forced to be their princesses until a knight or prince rescues them as is proper!) Not Cimorene, she does not want to be rescued. She does her own thing, so to speak.

The point of this all thing is my sister wrote a note in my book that says:

To my Kimmie, who is so like Princess Cimorene!

She couldn't have paid me a nicer compliment!

Love and Brightest of Blessings from your not so proper

  • Oh my goodness, I had a horrible night! Myriads of dreams, only one or two I remember. The worst one concerned my being on vacation at a hotel with my husband, and we suddenly had two little ones. A little girl about 3 yo and and infant son, a couple of months old. I had brought nothing for them, no change of clothing, no food or formula, no diapers...I was my worst nightmare...a horrible mother. I woke up thinking perhaps it is better I have not been able to have children...my heart was breaking and I couldn't go back to sleep. And there was this other family involved who had older children and they were going to a Christmas pagent or some other church function for the holiday. It was nasty and of all the dreams I had last night(I remember strands of them, like pieces of cobweb that float through my mind), That's the one I remember with most clarity.

The other one that is vaguely clear had me driving through a town with someone and we stopped at this church at night to see the remnent of some supposedly famous chaise lounge(Don't ask me! This was a weirder one than usual!)as I was looking at it I suddenly saw it as it was orignally, in a beautiful sky blue damask, and I saw what looked a scene from a play, being played out with it as a prop. It reminded me of the movie "Camille", with some draped across it having a coughing fit. Anyway, very strange!

Cat: to answer you question briefly, Lammas is the first harvest holiday in the Wiccan faith, and is generally celebrated on August 1st. It marks the end of summer, although, it may not seem like it. It is a greater Sabbat and is also known as "Lugnasadh" in Irish Gaelic. There is a great deal more to tell and I actually have a letter in the works to tell you more, but my computer froze.

Anyone who can add to this or correct me if I have something wrong, please feel free. I am still learning.

    Bright Blessings,

    Amethyst

Cats are rather delicate creatures and they are subject to a good many different ailments, but I have never heard of one who suffered from insomnia.          Joseph Wood Krutch
