'Kay...I'm still here and life is fairly good! I am soooo ready for a vacation tho'! I want to go someplace "Cool and green and shady". Up to the mountains, down to the beach, maybe Sedona!
Summer Solstice is just around the corner and I need to e-mail Patricia about it. At our Goddess Temple, we celebrate all the full moons and new moons and Sabbats. This year Solstice falls on the new moon. Normally I wouldn't question this but New Moon Ceremonies are for women only. It is really a marvelous thing, and that was the first ceremony I ever went to. I made some wonderful friends that night. Anyway...I wonder if the Solstice outweighs the new moon and men will be allowed?
The Temple is beautiful and is not assocoated with any one tradition. Men and children are very welcome for everything except the new moon rituals, and afterwards there is always a potluck.
You can read about the temple at: www.sekhmettemple.com. It is really cool...I just wish it was a little closer to home. (it's only about 45 minutes away....but late at night it seems alot longer!

I am feeling sooooo goood! I am bouncing off the walls, I'm so full of energy! I want a do-over of Memorial day weekend! {sigh}
Anyway, I have the good luck of having net access at work, therefore I am able to listen to my Mp3. I have been bopping around with songs going through my head so I thought I would list some of my favorite music and books and such. I love to share!
As far as music goes I am very eclectic! I love oldies, country, pop, classical, New Age, and just about anything Celtic!
I am actually at a point in my life that all I listen to is Celtic music. I have several groups that I ADORE! My first group is out of the land of Oz, the are A Celtic Rock Band called Brother! They Rock! Bagpipes, Dij **not sure of the full spelling..Digeriodo? It's an aboriginal drone instrument, for those who have no idea what I'm trying to say!
**, drums, bass, and guitar. What an awesome combination! Badpipes thrill me and the dij is the most primal instument I have ever encountered. It vibrates from the souls of your feet all the way to the top of your head, especially through the solar plexus...what a rush! Especially through a sound system! Oh my!!!! ( Sighs deeply! Ummm...yeah! )Pardon me, I'm going through Brother withdrawls... must...put...in...CD....Ahhhhhhh yeessss!
Now, where was I, oh yeah, Brother...they write their own music and also do several Irish/Scottish folk songs. I can't name a favorite song cause I love 'em all, but if I had to pick a couple, one of them is a traditional Celtic song called "Will you go". I actually have several versions of this on my MP3. Another one is an original called "Clumsy Lover", and then there is "2 chairs and one Tree"...and then...Blackest of Blue...and so on. I could write volumes, but that is enough for now.
Other groups include, Emerald Rose, which performs great Pagan and Celtic songs, My very favorite of theirs is "Never Underestimate" which is about not messing with a woman who is in tune with the Goddess, I also love "Red-Haired Mary" (That is what I danced to this afternoon!) Then there is Shenanigan, which has some of the most beautifully haunting songs I have ever heard. My three favorites are "The Dragon and the Phoenix" and "Wild One", and " The Harper".
I also enjoy Caleigh and Slainte, which are groups that play traditional Celtic songs. I love "Mairi's Wedding", and "Wild Rover". A lot of these I hear a lot cause so many of them are played at Faire.
Sorry, off on a tanget went I! And I took ye with me! I could go on for hours about my favorite music, but I think I have bored you enough.
I think we will touch on favorite books later...I'm in the middle of a Sark-a-thon and This could take a while.
Have a glorious night!

Okay, I'm somewhat better today, although I'm stilled miffed at missing most of last weekend.
Michael and I had a marvelous day yesterday! We went to see "A Knight's Tale" and I absolutley loved it! It is brain candy and you have to go in with an open mind, because it is completely anachronistic!(excuse my spelling, that doen't look quite right!) What we call "the Period Police", would absolutely hate the movie.
**The Period Police are those individuals who believe that everything must be as true to the period of time(such as medieval times) as possible. For example: As we re-enact the middle to late 1600's, when we are on site at a Faire, we can't have plastic water bottles or soda bottles where thay can be seen by the patrons at Faire, and only certain types of fabrics can be used for clothing(i.e. no polyester knits). There are some re-enactors (and these are mostly the Civil War re-enactors, but I know a few Faire Folk, too) that go so far as to have everything in their tents as period as possible! Not all of us are that dedicated!(I do like...ok, love my creature comforts and as long as no one sees inside my pavilion...)**
Anyway...so the fact that this movie opens with hundreds of people, nobles and peasant alike, at a jousting tournament, rocking out to "We will Rock You" by Queen, would most assuredly drive purists to the brink!
We also spent time in my favorite store, Barnes and Noble, where I picked up a new journal and Sark's newest book,"Eat Mangoes Naked -Finding Pleasure everywhere and Dancing With the Pits".
Now I know this is a most unusual title for a book, but you have to understand Sark. She is wonderful!(okay, so I'm slightly prejudiced! Sue me!
) Her books have taught me so much...the book "Succulent Wild Woman" was the first and she made me laugh and learn to see myself in a whole new way, then there was "the Bodacious Book of Succulence", and Her Playbook and Journal, and "How to Change Your Life Without Getting Out of Bed" and so many more. She is honest about who she is and how she feels. Her books are hand written in bold vibrant colours and illustrated by her.
She sends me on voyages of self-discovery and brings out the child in me, the adventurer in me, the fun in me and I love her! So There!!!! :-P
Michael and I had a lovely dinner and then a wonderful night's rest (I even slept in this morning...Huzzah!) So there you have it. I hope everyone's weekend is as wonderful as mine is turning out to be!
Bright Blessings,
Amethyst
