Okay, I'm somewhat better today, although I'm stilled miffed at missing most of last weekend.
Michael and I had a marvelous day yesterday! We went to see "A Knight's Tale" and I absolutley loved it! It is brain candy and you have to go in with an open mind, because it is completely anachronistic!(excuse my spelling, that doen't look quite right!) What we call "the Period Police", would absolutely hate the movie.
**The Period Police are those individuals who believe that everything must be as true to the period of time(such as medieval times) as possible. For example: As we re-enact the middle to late 1600's, when we are on site at a Faire, we can't have plastic water bottles or soda bottles where thay can be seen by the patrons at Faire, and only certain types of fabrics can be used for clothing(i.e. no polyester knits). There are some re-enactors (and these are mostly the Civil War re-enactors, but I know a few Faire Folk, too) that go so far as to have everything in their tents as period as possible! Not all of us are that dedicated!(I do like...ok, love my creature comforts and as long as no one sees inside my pavilion...)**
Anyway...so the fact that this movie opens with hundreds of people, nobles and peasant alike, at a jousting tournament, rocking out to "We will Rock You" by Queen, would most assuredly drive purists to the brink!
We also spent time in my favorite store, Barnes and Noble, where I picked up a new journal and Sark's newest book,"Eat Mangoes Naked -Finding Pleasure everywhere and Dancing With the Pits".
Now I know this is a most unusual title for a book, but you have to understand Sark. She is wonderful!(okay, so I'm slightly prejudiced! Sue me!
) Her books have taught me so much...the book "Succulent Wild Woman" was the first and she made me laugh and learn to see myself in a whole new way, then there was "the Bodacious Book of Succulence", and Her Playbook and Journal, and "How to Change Your Life Without Getting Out of Bed" and so many more. She is honest about who she is and how she feels. Her books are hand written in bold vibrant colours and illustrated by her.
She sends me on voyages of self-discovery and brings out the child in me, the adventurer in me, the fun in me and I love her! So There!!!! :-P
Michael and I had a lovely dinner and then a wonderful night's rest (I even slept in this morning...Huzzah!) So there you have it. I hope everyone's weekend is as wonderful as mine is turning out to be!
Bright Blessings,
Amethyst
